About Inner Mongolia University of Science & Technology
Inner Mongolia University of Science and Technology (IMUST) is located in Baotou, the Steel City and the first batch of National Civilized City. The university can trace back to 1956, initially belong to the former Ministry of Metallurgical Industry, in 1960 it was changed as Baotou Iron and Steel Institute and in 1980 was arranged to Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. In 2000, it merged Inner Mongolia Coal Industry School and was renamed as IMUST in 2003. The IMUST has now developed into a multi-discipline university with its distinctives in industries including metallurgy, mining, coal and rare earth and main focus in engineering. It coordinates the development in disciplines such as engineering, science, liberal arts, management, economics, law, art and education, and integrates postgraduate education, undergraduate education, higher vocational education, continuing education and oversea students’ education.
The School of Mechanical Engineering (SME) at IMUST, has four undergraduate programs, i.e. Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation (MDMA), Process Equipment and Control Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical and Electronics Engineering. Among them, the MDMA is a National First-class Undergraduate Major construction program and is the Outstanding Engineers Training Plan in Ministry of Education. The SME is qualified to grant the Master’s and Doctoral degree in the first-level discipline of Mechanical Engineering, which is a key discipline in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
